#2: Communication--Refocus Quickly
Use a physical trigger to bring you quickly back to your Connect & Succeed conversation.
- Create the trigger by role-playing or imagining a situation where you mind wanders during a conversation.
- As you come back into a full presence in the conversation, make the physical movement or gesture that you want to use as a trigger. This physical movement or gesture will be the trigger for your state of full presence and energetic listening.
- Common discreet triggers include: Wiggling your toes or holding your thumb and index fingertip together.
- Train yourself to this trigger by repeating the above steps until the trigger triggers itself.
- Test your trigger in real life conversations. The more you use it, the stronger the trigger.
